autumn plants & fungi walk

start point: train station, Totnes

Join us for a walk, foraging for edible and useful plants.

Whilst we teach very practical knowledge on our forages we do this in a relaxed atmosphere, ensuring that you learn a lot, but also have a really good time. We help you to identify plants that you might see every day and wonder if they are edible or what other uses they may have. Every plant tells a bit of a story and it is this story that helps you remember what the plant can be used for. By the end of the day you will have been taught about somewhere between 50 and 100 plants, and not only their edible and medicinal uses but their history and folklore too.

After the summers growth plants and fungi are starting to ensure a generation for next year.  Plants give out berries, nuts and seeds and the fruiting body of fungi or mushrooms pop up to spore before the winter sets in.  In this dramatic natural close to the year follow two experts in their field Dave Hamilton and Adam Sayner of Woodfruit as they guide you around the Devon Countryside.

Please bring a packed lunch, but the boys will provide a bit of extra food too. Sensible walking shoes/boots are strongly advisable. Many people also benefit from bringing waterproof clothing or an umbrella, notepad and camera.
