network of networks

Below are the different kinds of networks we're talking about. If someone joins a credit union, they might also be interested in getting a veg box delivered. If they get a veg box delivered, they might also be interested in getting their energy from renewables. If they get their energy from renewables, they might also be interested in joining their local Transition group? Etc.

You get the idea?

Here are some of the kinds of groups that could come together to start pulling things in a different direction:

Adbusters - fighting banks and corporations with ridicule

Association of British Credit Unions (ABCUL) - providing an alternative to banks

Campaign for Better Transport - trying to make it easier not to have a car

Co-operative Movement - non-corporate-owned retail and banking

Fair Trade Foundation - trying to stop corporations ripping off farmers in poor countries

Global Ecovillage Network - promoting ecovillages and communities

Lammas (and others) - trying to make smallholdings more accessible for ordinary people

Low-impact Network - helping people gain skills and change the way they live

Permaculture - you know what permaculture is don't you? If not, have a look

Sharenergy - developing community-owned renewable energy

Sustain - offering alternatives to supermarkets for our food

Transition Network - bringing local people together to plan for change

Via Campesina - peasants versus banks and corporations, basically

WWOOF - bringing together small organic farmers and potential volunteers
