two-day course

apple grafting

venue: the Middlewood Trust, Lancashire

This is a free course, supported by Lancashire County Council.

Tutors: Phil Rainford from the Northern Fruit Group and Rod Everett from the Middlewood Trust.

During the weekend you will learn how to graft apples. We will use a variety of rootstocks and a wide selection of grafting material. During the  course we will graft well over 100 trees to give you a repeated experience and develop your confidence.  These trees will eventually contribute to the Lancashire Apple Project.  This project involves propagating rare and traditional apple varieties trees from around Lancashire.

We will also look at the wide selection of fruit trees around the farm and see different grafting techniques.

Please bring warm and waterproof clothes and sturdy footwear.

£5 for lunch and refreshments. £10 for a bunk if you want to stay over.
