by bicycle
There are two main cycle routes here from rail stations. One is from Milton Keynes Central (or Bletchley), both on the main London to Glasgow line. Bletchley is a shorter ride. The other route is from Aylesbury, at the end of the Chiltern line from London Marylebone.

from Milton Keynes / Bletchley
Map of cycle route from MK & Bletchley
From Milton Keynes Central: come out of the station, turn right, then right again and over the footbridge. Turn left onto the no. 51 national cycle route. It may be difficult to follow the 51 route inside Milton Keynes; if so, keep cycling towards the Milton Keynes Bowl (stadium), go past it and find the A421 (also known as the H8), turn right and go along the cycle path on the left-hand side of the road until you come to the B4034; turn left, go about 200 metres, and the 51 route is on the right (a dirt track) - it goes all the way to Winslow. When you get to Winslow, you will come to the A413 (the main road that goes through the town); turn right towards Buckingham. About 300 metres after you leave Winslow, the end of our drive is on the right, next to a bus stop (the sign says Redfield). Distance: c. 13 miles. Time: 1-1½ hours.

From Bletchley: come out of the station and turn left, then at the mini roundabout turn right onto the B4034 (Buckingham Road). Cycle up Buckingham Road about 1.5 miles until you see the 51 cycle route signposted on your left (it's a dirt track) – if you reach the A421 you’ve gone about 200 metres too far. Follow the route 51 signs and this will take you all the way to Winslow. When you get to Winslow, you will come to the A413 (the main road that goes through the town); turn right towards Buckingham. About 300 metres after you leave Winslow, the end of our drive is on the right, next to a bus stop (the sign says Redfield). Distance: c. 12 miles. Time: 1-1½ hours.

from Aylesbury
Map of cycle route from Aylesbury
Aylesbury is the last station on the Chiltern line from Marylebone. This cycle route is on pleasant country lanes, apart from the section from the station to the turn-off on the Bicester road. Come out of the station and turn left. The road bends to the right; go over a mini-roundabout until you hit the main road. Turn left and go straight until you come to the second roundabout (on the A41). Turn left and continue until you leave town, then 1/4 mile later, take the first turn-off on the right (signposted Berryfields / gated road). Then it’s country lanes all the way. Follow the map.
Distance: 12 miles. Time: 1-1½ hours.

by public transport
If you are coming on public transport, you need to get a train to Aylesbury, Milton Keynes or Oxford, then get a bus. To check the latest timetables visit Bucks Travel Info (click on 'buses' then 'timetables' then the number of the service you require - see below) or call Traveline on 0870 6082608. There is a journey planner on the website which is very helpful. You can also get a National Express coach to Oxford or Milton Keynes Coachway, (next to the M1). Taxis from either Milton Keynes or Aylesbury are around £15-20, and quite a lot more from Oxford.

from London
Regular trains to Aylesbury from Marylebone, and also to Milton Keynes from Euston. Aylesbury is a better bet, as it's then one bus instead of two. Then...

from Aylesbury
The bus station is 5 minutes walk from the rail station. No. 60 buses go right to the end of Redfield’s drive. Ask for the stop after Winslow, and the end of our drive is on the other side of the road. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Have a look at the timetables / call the number above for times.

NB: if you miss the last bus from Aylesbury, we recommend Eco-Taxis, on 01296 423282, who use the fuel-efficient Toyota Prius hybrids, offset their emissions with tree-planting, and support LILI and BTCV.

from Milton Keynes
Take the X5 (Oxford) service, which runs half hourly from Milton Keynes Coachway, shopping centre (the Point, stop H3), and rail station (stop 36), to Buckingham Tesco. From the Coachway this takes 40 mins, from the rail station it is 20 mins. Then from Buckingham take the 60 (see below).

from Buckingham
The bus stop is outside Tesco, at the interchange with the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford X5 service. The bus is no. 60, and you want the stop just before Winslow; the drive is in front of you as you get off the bus. The journey takes about 10 minutes. Have a look at the timetables / call the number above for times.

from Oxford
Two ways:
i) X5 (half hourly) from Oxford George Street or rail station to Buckingham Tesco, then the 60 as above (this way is quicker than ii).
ii) 280 to Aylesbury from Oxford High Street or Oxford rail station, then the 60 as above.

by car
If you're driving, Redfield is on the A413 Aylesbury – Buckingham road, about 300m north of Winslow, on the right (next to a bus stop). See map. If it’s dark, it's difficult to see, so go slowly or you could drive past it. Come straight down the drive and look for the signs for parking. Please park as far in as you can, so that the farmer can get past with his tractor.

When you arrive, walk up to the house, turn right into the car park, then walk under the arch in the stable block and follow the path. Someone will be there to meet you.
