DIY for beginners

If you want to install photovoltaics, solar hot water, compost toilets or any of LILI's environmentally-friendly facilities, you will need to have some basic DIY skills.

This course de-mystifies many practical skills, explains environmentally-friendly ways to carry out many common DIY tasks, and also covers suppliers / buying materials, fixings and timber.

  • plumbing: soldering, compression joints, pipework, tap washers, fittings
  • carpentry: timber / materials, methods of fixing / construction
  • electrics: basic wiring, renewables
  • drilling and fixing to walls, floors and other materials
  • what you can do yourself and what you should leave to the professionals
  • suppliers / buying materials
  • health and safety
  • Q&A session for your own projects
