online courses

Our latest online course is Straw-bale Building. This online course contains a range of documents and videos by the UK's top straw-bale builder, Barbara Jones. The course covers all aspects of straw-bale building, from foundations, walls and roofs to tools, internal fittings and plastering, with lots of tips and inside information. The course represents excellent value - there are over 200 minutes of videos to accompany pdf documents containing text and diagrams, so that as well as reading about the processes, you can watch videos of exactly how it's done.

Access the course here.

help stop GM

Rothamsted Research Station in Hertfordshire is hosting a government-backed trial of Genetically Modified (GM) wheat. The wheat being trialled has been genetically modified (using cow genes) to be resistant to aphids which cause an 8% loss in conventionally grown wheat. Organic grown wheat experiences only negligible losses to aphids because there are natural predators in the system which prevent the build-up of pest populations. GM crops are not an answer to world hunger, they are just a way for companies like Monsanto to increase profits.
Please come to Rothamsted on May 27th and invite your friend, neighbour, councillor, MP, vicar, farmer and family to come too.
