more on green woodworking

Our expert for green woodworking is Maurice Pyle of the Woodsmith's Store.

Maurice started his career within youth training and outdoor education, when he first discovered the joys of working with green wood using a few simple hand tools. For the last 15 years he has enjoyed running a business which combines many aspects of conventional woodland work and traditional woodcraft.

He is a trustee of the Bill Hogarth Memorial Apprenticeship Trust, regional contact for the Association of Pole Lathe Turners and member of The Carpenters' Fellowship.

He set up the Woodsmith's Store in 2006, selling tools for green woodworkers and other green wood trades. He says 'They are often hard to find specialist tools made in small numbers by specialist manufacturers. If we don't have the tools we sell in our own tool basket then we will have at least tried and tested most of them. We hope you will like the quality and the price. If the performance of a tool lets you down doing the job it was intended to do, we will always aim to put things right.'

Maurice's courses in Co. Durham are in our programme.
